Winning Streaks Galore

Currently, we have 8 players with winning streaks of 5 games or more. Jon B. and Bill P. have made their mark in the history books with a 7-game win streak—congratulations to them. Nick M. and Robert E. are on the brink of cementing their names in Teaser League history, each with a six-game win streak... no pressure.

Jon B. maintains a notable $800 lead in first place. However, as we've observed this season, that lead can vanish in an instant, leaving you in the middle of the pack or even in the negative.

Currently, there is a seven-way tie for second place, with Eric F. and Colin K. (Kap?) following in third place.

Anyone currently in the green has a complete chance to win it all. I understand you might think that sounds unbelievable, but it isn't. Trust me, it's not. With seven weeks remaining, the playoffs approaching, and cold weather affecting games, you'll witness chaos beginning to unfold. You just need to endure the storm and emerge victorious each week. Anyone can achieve a 7-game winning streak; you just need a bit of luck on your side.

The Island Boys

I can't believe I never thought of this before.

  1. The Island Boys - Zack Z. & John F. found themselves on an island this weekend by choosing the Browns. As a result, they were the Teaser League 'Island Boys' for week 15. I can't get enough of calling them Island Boys, haha.

    1. I think we should introduce a new rule next season:

If one of your selections makes up 1% of the league's picks, you'll be designated as an Island Boy, and if your pick succeeds, you'll receive $$$ from the penalty pot added to your balance. I'm not sure about the amount or if it should be a percentage of the penalty, but I believe it's a great incentive to choose a team that others are unlikely to pick.

Spreadsheet Update

Building on my previous point, I'm not sure if everyone noticed, but I included a percentage next to the league's picks in the spreadsheet, indicating the pick percentage for each team. Interestingly, 16 out of the 32 NFL teams had only 1% of the picks. It's a fascinating statistic to observe.

If you have any small details that you think would be beneficial to add to the sheet, please let me know. I'm always open to suggestions for tweaking things.

Comparing Season V to Season VI

Here is a screenshot of Season V (first image) and Season VI (second image). I wanted to show everyone the comparison between last season and this season. A few points to consider:

  1. The loss amount last season was $25, and this season it's $20. By adding 10 more players, I reduced it by $5.

  2. Comparing the penalty pots: 2 losses were $125 ($200 this season), 3 losses were $200 ($300 this season), and 4 losses remained at $1K.

When comparing these images, focus on the "Total $$" in the first image, which includes the season winnings plus the penalty pot, and compare it to the "Projected" in the second image.

The top five positions are quite similar, if not identical, when comparing last season to this one. The real intrigue begins with the 6th place and beyond. Here, you notice the numbers doubling, which is positive. More money is being distributed across the league, making it less top-heavy than in past seasons. My aim was to distribute the wealth to those in the green.

Last season, 40% of the league ended up in the green, and this season, we're at 46%. Interpret that as you will. I believe we're in a good position with Teaser, with the Base Loss Amount set at $1K, neither more nor less. The BLA is the total pot for each week. Increasing the 1 loss amount to $25 in a 50-person league would be extremely harsh for the losers this season. Absolutely harsh. I don't want that to happen. That would raise the BLA to $1250 weekly—remember season IV? Weekly heart attacks. We don't need that stress. I want the last place player to be around $3K; I don't want to collect $5K from players. Anyways, enjoy the stats and have fun comparing.

Bears vs Packers

This is what it's all about. I need this, you need this, we all need this. I don't care if the Packers are limping into the game. It's week 16, everyone is limping.

Two meaningful Bears/Packers games in December? Can't remember the last time that happened.

BEAR DOWN!

Lines & Matchups

The lines are up and we have some good matchups this weeks:

  • Rams vs Seahawks tonight

  • Panthers vs Bucs

  • Bears vs Packers

  • Jaguars vs Broncos

  • Steelers vs Lions

  • Patriots vs Ravens

  • 49ers vs Colts

  • Chargers vs Cowboys

I think this week has the most "good games" we've had all season long. Enjoy them.
