Losing Streaks

I define a "losing streak" in the teaser league as losing three or more consecutive weeks. Currently, 30% of the league (15 players), including myself, have experienced such a streak. My Thursday Night Double Dips (TNFDD's) have not been favorable for me this season, but as I've mentioned each week, there's no reason to panic. There's still PLENTY of time to find your rhythm and start a winning streak. We have twelve weeks remaining. Teaser League focuses on accumulating wins; no matter how small, just keep stacking them and find your rhythm.

"The Big Sleazy" Sam L.

The formerly renowned teaser league player has become a shadow of his former self. After losing for the past four weeks and currently sitting in 46th place with a $2300 deficit in week 11, he finds himself is in a difficult position.

Between 2022 and 2024, he ended each year with a profit, accumulating $7,700 in winnings over those three seasons. Last season, however, he lost $2,000, and this season he is on track to double that amount. While it's not yet time to panic, continuing this trend might mean one fewer vacation in 2026.

The winnings are beginning to increase.

During the first five weeks, I was somewhat concerned that the weekly winning amounts were too low. Observing winnings ranging from $120 to $360 per week made me question my decision to reduce the loss amount from $25 to $20. However, we're now settling into the excitement of the teaser league. We're witnessing more upsets, teams facing tough challenges, injuries accumulating, and teams showing inconsistency each week.

I brought it up in last week's recap, but here's the summary of the season so far:

  • Weeks 1-5 = Average winnings of $240.00

  • Weeks 6-10 = Average winnings of $568.00

This represents a 70% increase in winnings. In the past 5 seasons, we haven't experienced such low winnings over an extended period of weeks. Anyway, I'm relieved that things have stabilized.

Cindarella Story?

Paul R. "Started from the bottom and now he's here." Not to be critical, but Paul R. has faced challenges throughout his teaser league career. Prior to Season XI, his record was 54-55, with an overall career deficit of $7K. He only ended in the positive once, earning $500 in 2021.

He's 8-2 so far and quietly moving his way to the top. Nice job Paul!

This could be one of the better Cindarella Stories we've ever had. Last season we Mark/Chris & Dan B. who were in the same position as Paul R., at the bottom but they rose to the top and made some good dough last season.

The Rise & Fall of Brendan L

One of the top Teaser Leaguers has faced significant challenges this season. With a lifetime of success, he has accumulated over $8K in winnings and ended each of the past five seasons profitably. He ranks second in all-time earnings and was the first player to achieve 70 wins in the history of the teaser league.

The past is behind him, and currently, he is struggling. His choices are half-hearted, his attitude is weak, and his drive to maintain greatness has vanished. Kyle G remarked, "He's a shadow of his former self." Sal P. commented, "He's lost it; he no longer has what it takes." The world is against him, and he's cornered. We'll discover what he's truly made of in the upcoming twelve weeks.

Penalty Pot Update

We had a successful week for the penalty pot. I wasn't hoping for the Bears to lose, but when they were trailing 20-10, I calculated how much would be added if they lost, and it came to $1400. It would have been an exciting week if that had occurred. We're expecting a few of those exciting weeks soon; we haven't experienced one yet, but we've come close several times.

We did add an additional $600.00 to the pot, keeping the projected pace just under $10,000. This is a positive figure, and being on track to meet our goal after 10 weeks is encouraging.

I have the top 25 receiving a piece of the penalty pot. So, if you break even you may get 1% of the pot, which is better than $0.

Vampire Update

This week, we had three players successfully target the vampire, which was quite impressive. They were from different teams as well. Brendan B. is still in the lead with three hits so far. Since this is our first full season of Vampire, I'm not entirely sure how to predict the rest of the season; we're just observing how it unfolds. Last season, we didn't start until week 10 or 11.

Week 11

The lines will be released tomorrow morning. We have another Germany game and only two teams on bye this week.

Good luck!
