Week 1 Recap

Just when we believed we had mastered our Teaser picks, the Teaser Gods intervened with great vengeance. Although I lost in Week 1, it was an ideal opening week, and I'm more than willing to start the season with a $2,800 penalty pot.

For those new to the league, last season's penalty pool totaled $6,700 over 22 weeks. I even thought about adjusting the spread from +13 to +12 because many teams were covering late in the game by at least half a point. This season, the penalty pot is expected to hit $61,000! It probably won't reach that figure, but with the NFL and Teaser League, you never know what kind of season you'll have each year.

Congratulations to the impressive 11 who succeeded with all four of your selections. You are among the elite, well done. There was a total of 40 who didn't make it, setting a record in the teaser league. Among the 11 winners, only one was a newcomer, known as Herman. Congratulations, Herm, also known as 'Big Herm'.

Nobody needed to start the season in the green room more than Tom H. A lifetime 22-22 record, he has spent his first two seasons deep in the red.

Bill P. had his 15 game win streak snapped, longest in Teaser League history.

Some notes I took from the the games this weekend

• Jim Harbaugh is dead to me

• Ben Johnson is my idol

• We earned Caleb Williams. Nobody has gone through what we've gone through, we deserve him.

• Why do they keep putting the shitty Cowboys on Sunday Night Football to start the season?

• The Australia game felt like I was watching a pre-season game. Just didn't feel right.

• Green Bay sucks

• Why did I pick the Chargers?

• It's going to take 4-6 weeks to get a read on a lot of these teams this season.

The Blood We Needed
