Teaser League Season VII - Opening Night
Gentlemen,
Welcome to Season VII of the Teaser League. Every year, I attempt to come up with a new slogan, but there's only one that truly captures the essence... 'The Journey is the Championship'. I can't stray from it; it aligns too perfectly with the Teaser League. A twenty-two-week grind filled with ups and downs, anger, happiness, complaints, and suspicions of fixes, but ultimately, it's not about any single emotion—it's about all of them combined. That's why the journey is, and always will be, the championship.
As Season VII begins tonight let's get caught up on some story lines heading into the season:
Anthony S. is looking to become the first player to reach 100 wins in Teaser League history. He will need to go 16-6 to accomplish this milestone.
Jeff M., Kyle G., Brendan L. and Jon B. can all reach the 100 win milestone as well but will need to go at least 18-4 or 20-2, doesn't seem likely but anything can happen.
The penalty pot better get to $10K this year. Last year pissed me off w/ it only getting to just above $6K. There is no way that can happen again. We're due for major blood this season, last season the Teaser Gods were generous.
Wins are great but the money is what really matters. Who will become the first to $10K? It can be anyone. The pot is going to be big this year. Anyone in the $4K-$6K range has a shot if they win come in the top 5.
It's good to have a lot of familiar names back. We had a 94% retention rate, last season it was 96%. I love the history and tradition we are building with this league. Let's keep it going as long as we can.
Can Ardel bounce back? Can Taylor K. bounce back? Can Tom H. bounce back? All three were at the bottom of the standings last season. There were times during the season where the losses just kept coming and coming, it wouldn't stop. I felt bad for them, I know nobody else did, but I did and that has to count for something.
I think it'll be a wild year in Teaser. Not quite like Season IV where we had the 'base loss amount' at $1395 per week but we're going to be at $1200 instead of $1K this season. Adding $200 per week is going to make for some wild swings. Hold on tight because if the penalty pot does what it's supposed to do and be at $10K this season, those in the green will have a nice pay day at the end of the season.
My Chicago Bears prediction is 10-7.
Let's have a great season! I wish everyone the best of luck. The deadline to sign up is Sunday at noon CT (kickoff). Any questions or concerns let me know. Good luck to everyone.
